The Rocky Mountains have a mind of their own...
As wedding photographers, we have had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful moments between soon-to-be-married couples. But none quite as unique and breathtaking as the wedding of Amy and Joe. The wedding took place in the picturesque state of Colorado, at the stunning Deer Creek Mountain Camp. The setting was idyllic, with deer grazing behind the altar, and the majestic Rocky Mountains serving as the perfect backdrop. However, the day of the wedding brought a surprise for everyone - a May snowstorm! But, despite the unexpected weather, Joe and Amy were determined to have their special day go on as planned.
As the ceremony began, the snow was falling gently, adding an ethereal quality to the already breathtaking setting. The bride and groom exchanged vows amidst the snowflakes, surrounded by the natural beauty of birch trees and mountains. The blanket of white snow really brought out the beautiful colors that they chose - mustard yellow, rust, and champagne. Amy wore a stunning custom made Rue De Seine gown adorned with a delicate flower crown and a pampas bouquet. Joe rocked a killer rust tuxedo complete with a matching bow tie and of course, his favorite shades! After the ceremony, we set out to take the couple's portraits. Despite the cold, the newlyweds were all smiles as they braved the elements to capture memories that they will treasure forever. We took a short (but STEEP!) Jeep ride up the mountain and found a beautiful clearing to take photos. The snow was falling heavily, but the couple was undeterred!
After making our way back down the mountain, the couple joined their favorite people for the first time as Mr. + Mrs. and partied the night away!! From Amy's hometown favorite, the Sam Grow Band, to a fire pit and a fully stocked smores bar, these two didn't overlook a single detail!
The unexpected snow storm ended up making the wedding even more special, adding a unique and magical touch to the already beautiful day. The photos we captured were nothing short of stunning, with the snow-covered mountains and the happy couple in the foreground. The wedding of Amy and Joe was truly one-of-a-kind, and we are honored to have had the opportunity to capture these special memories for them. It was a day that will always be remembered, not only for the love that Joe and Amy shared, but also for the unexpected beauty of a May snowstorm in the mountains of Colorado.
